Just for Men

Typically, Pregnancy Resource Centers focus primarily on women in unplanned pregnancies. But for every new mom there is also a new dad who needs to be a part of this experience. Including men during the decision making process and after is absolutely crucial for two very important reasons:

  • The father of the baby has a dramatic influence on the women’s choice for life. If he is involved and supportive, the mother is more likely to carry.
  • Fathers who are engaged in supporting the mother through pregnancy and preparing themselves for fatherhood are more likely to take this role seriously and own up to their responsibilities.

We’ve discovered that many of the men who come to our centers have not had good relationships with their own fathers or have had no father figure at all. We recognized that unless they get some guidance and encouragement on how to be a good dad, they won’t have the skills needed to make successful fatherhood a reality.

We are not only teaching a man to spend time with his child, but we are also teaching him to act responsibly which will spill over into other areas of his life.

An investment in a dad influences his child as well as future generations.

DAD U

This program consists of five one-hour lessons using key word titles that match the main roles of a father in his child’s life. There is also a spiritual component to each lesson called Father2Father.

Dad U teaches young men to be what God intended them to be “a provider and protector.” Through the Word of God, our male peer counselors show them how to be a responsible Dad. This includes:

  1. How a child develops.

  1. How to care for his child.

  1. The important role a father plays in the development of his child.

  1. The positive influence a responsible father can have.

  1. How he can provide stability and security for his entire family.

Abortion Recovery

Nearly as many men as women are affected by abortion, but the man’s experience, and the impact abortion has on them is not widely recognized. Often men are reluctant to seek help and it can take many years before they recognize that their abortion experience has been affecting their lives and relationships.

Care Net Pregnancy Resource Centers offers men an 8-week Bible study that promotes healing for the emotional and spiritual effects of abortion. This Bible study is confidential, free of charge and open to any man who was involved in an abortion. In addition, one-on-one peer counseling is available.
