Volunteer Testimonies

I first learned about Care Net Pregnancy Resource Centers in 2005 during Missions Week at my church. They had a table set up and I spoke to Helen, a volunteer at the Warrenton Center, about becoming a Peer Counselor. She told me what a great opportunity it was so I signed up for the classes.

That wasn’t easy, because I am typically very shy. Becoming a Peer Counselor meant stepping out of my comfort zone for me. It was intimidating! But I really felt God wanted me to do it.

What keeps me going is being able to share the gospel with people and trying to help them with the issues they are facing. Sometimes, when people call on the phone and say they want an abortion, I talk to them and they actually make an appointment, come in, and change their mind!

Volunteering with Care Net Pregnancy Resource Centers has drawn me closer to God because I know I have to depend on Him. Prayer is such a big part of this ministry; praying for the clients and praying for wisdom when counseling the clients, because it is really God speaking.

Volunteering with Care Net Pregnancy Resource Centers, it is a great opportunity because you get a chance to share the gospel. It is a “God opportunity,” because God brings the clients to the Center and shows us how to minister to their needs.

-- Center Volunteer

When I began to volunteer, I had no comprehension of the hurt, pain and deception that sometimes encompass women as they face an unplanned pregnancy. Jesus Christ is their hope and their help. That is what we proclaim to clients who come into the Center.

Whether we are offering a free ultrasound, describing the stages of fetal development, explaining the abortion procedure and its risks, or giving out diapers, we are proclaiming Jesus, and showing the love of Christ to those who are hurting and in need of Him.

I am blessed to be a part of leading clients in the prayer of Salvation.
